A devised piece bringing together various Greek myths with a distinct Scottish interpretation, the show was commissioned and premiered at 'The Greeks; our contemporaries', a European theatre festival in Milan.
Three actors stage a highly original and unconventional journey through Greek mythology, using the highly atmospheric amphitheatre at the Parco Lago Nord. By mixing and adapting music, tales, real and imaginary texts, the director and dramaturg Martin Danziger succeeds in investigating the eternal question of the difference between myth and truth... a very involving and exciting production transforms these ancient stories into something very modern, very dramatic and full of resonance for a contemporary audience.
Il CittadinoThree actresses lead the audience into the sphere if Greek myth in a way that mixes irony, reality, and fantastical imagination.... it is because of such liberal adaptation that the Greek myths are transformed into something different. They become an alive and very contemporary narrative, both serious and grotesque... the show creates a a world where the traditional idea of destiny leaves space also for human action. The use of Scottish songs, and a staging and costumes that draw on traditions of street theatre helped to make this performance powerful and memorable.
