Company Northlands Festival
Based on an old Highland legend, this was a large scale processional production as the closing event for the Northlands Festival. Bringing together professionals and community groups, the show involved over 250 people as the show followed the journey of the Good Knight on his way to battle with the evil Greysteel.
Theatre has warmed the chilled streets of Thurso. Martin Danziger's street extravaganza proved a triumphant end to a festival, involved the talents and interests of the community. As we crowded into a biting wind beside a turbulent river to watch Thurso castle burst into a wild spectacle of fire there was an overwhelming sense of celebration. The pageant, with its cast of hundreds was free ingenious and appreciated.
The HeraldThe Burning Knight triumphed as a spectacular and memorable show as the torchlit procession wound its way from the centre of the town to the fiery finale at the harbour.... the imaginative Martin Danziger's work with both adults and young people was stupendous, and the show made undoubtedly a remarkable and unforgettable climax to the festival.
